Conisbrough Baptist Church was packed for our annual Christmas crafts and tea event, two weeks before Christmas – as local people and children flooded in to help us celebrate Advent.
Minister, the Rev. Ian Wright’s brilliant retelling and explaining of the Christmas story – with scattered BOOMs, at which everyone had to throw up their hands – brought fun and joy to a wonderful occasion, with the booming voice of our Welsh wizard Carey on the keyboards, leading the worship carols.
Our excellent church ladies – and some gents – laid on a mammoth spread of free food, and the children in the congregation were given crafting tools to make pictures of Nativity characters… as they munched their teas at their tables and listened to the service.
After the long misery of Covid, it was a delightful and joyful way to come together, out of isolation, to celebrate the birth of our Lord in our church family.
We were sad though, to miss Dave and Caroline Lee and their children – who are so much a part of our church life – as the family battles Covid. Our prayers go up for their speedy recovery… but remember you can still see Dave and little son Alex every other day on our Advent calendar, talking about the meaning of Christmas!
